MESSAGE TO RAIDER NATION!! NFL WON'T LET TEAM WIN IN '07!
I love the NFL but it has been politicized by corporations and private groups. Rules controlling fair competition between teams have been ignored or broken to please conservative politicians and big t.v. networks. These groups feed the league billions of dollars and in return they get the NFL to give certain teams an unfair edge over other clubs. There have been NFL members complaining about this and they have gotten a taste of NFL power to deal with its' enemies. The Raiders are near the top of this list; its’ not the old Al Davis vs. Pete Rozelle feud with law suits, the refs costing the Raiders games, the league blocking blockbuster trades secretly between Oakland/ L.A. and other clubs and the rule changes after a crazy win by the Raiders. Al accused ex-Commissioner Paul Tagliabue of corruption at a 1999 meeting, it embarrassed and pissed off league officials who already were primed to make it hard on Oakland, really would (are) go after them. Although Tagliabue has helped make the NFL the most successful league in pro sports when it comes to revenue and labor peace. But the NFL has turned it's back on the fans, older members, NFL cities and even older stars to squeeze as much profit out of the business as they can, even if it's close to illegal and just wrong. Understand that these companies that gave the NFL billions (one sattellite company gave the $20 billion for the rights to show games) want more than the a couple millions and the NFL licensing rights-they are working with conservative politicians who want to use the NFL to market their image and ideas like 'Patriotism' and how we should act at work.
The Raiders are being punished by the league and 2007 won’t be any different. Oakland might fail again in ’07 if fans don't protest wrong doing. They have the power and worse, their own media. They do things secretly and if someone exposes their corruption, ESPN, FOX and NFL Network will try to make the league look innocent. They will sick their corporate friends, corrupt NFL officials/ conservative politicians and media on their enemies, even our local newspapers will try and convince Raider Nation that its’ crazy talk to accuse them. And we buy it!
Raider fans just see a bad team needing to improve; they wait for its' return to greatness. It ain’t happen’n anytime soon! Because they stink? No, because the NFL is behind, not all, but a lot of their problems.
In 2006 ESPN said Oakland had “Virtually, no chance of winning!” they were the worst team in football and lots' of other nonsense. FOX, CBS and NFL Network added more lambasting later. I have never heard any sports caster/ writer ever say “Virtually” about even the worst clubs in professional sports. That’s doesn’t sound like a prediction that any person or business has the right to make, it sounded like a promise.
Its’ not just Oakland, the NFL destroyed the Cowboys in the 90s’ and still don’t care for Jerry Jones because of his friendship with Al and the fact that he doesn’t really like the agreement for parity that controls his and other teams except the Patriots. Dallas and Oakland both want to make their own revenue sharing deals and that really pisses off a corrupt and greedy league that wants to get its share from every team. Oakland, Dallas, Washington and Buffalo also wanted to get money but, compete all out to win, not play parity games. The NFL doesn’t want that except in New England.
Fans who e-mailed me asked how could the NFL do this. They say the NFL is regulated and monitored by government agencies. Of course the government works with the NFL, NBA and MLB to make sure they report their earnings and to prevent organized crime (yea right).
These public employees are treated to games, are wined and dined by league officials and that’s o.k. But these government officials/ politicians also get and give favors with NFL officials. That can be anything from ignoring allegations of corruption by an NFL member or journalist to having serious illegal activity (like giving certain NFL teams unfair advantages) overlooked or made to “look innocent”; since 1997 this is what has kept serious questions about the NFL’s revenue sharing and treatment of media reporters and other NFL members (Raiders-Cowboys) from being first printed in the papers.
Conservative politicians and the big networks want the Patriots, Steelers and Panthers on top. And the NFL see to it. Its' is about money and power; you don’t believe it! cool, but understand that cable companies, t.v. networks and humongous corporations aren't taking chances on the league being dominated by teams like Dallas, S.F., Oakland, Washington, Packers and losing extra money from parity crazy fans spending money on their weak teams upsetting a contender but still missing the playoffs; only New England can dominate!
The NFL is influenced by groups that put billions into the league. The Patriots stay on top because they have the 'team player'-'obey the boss' attitude corporations and their political friends want America to accept. With revenue sharing and more money being promised owners have no reason change the politics of the league and the NFL media will keep washing away any charges of fraud.
ESPN will hype any team except the Raiders and will keep lambasting them while the NFL and friends find ways to keep them from winning. Fans don't understand that big networks and corporations want to make sure all parties make profits and even if we see sloppy play, bad officiating and overall quality of the game suffer. Its o.k. because they will use the parity none sense to keep us glued to these games while we watch some weak teams beat up a so-called contender and think thats great while our teams miss the playoffs because the league pushed pre-picked champions into the super bowl.
I have told the truth, don’t dare say the Raiders are 3 years away. There are no really great teams in the NFL and Oakland has outstanding talent and experienced staff to win the division. The parity Chargers won with a first time starter at qb, average receivers and no name dbs so why can’t Oakland.
